Indiaskills 2025–26 Northeast Regional Competition: RASCI-Led Retail Sector Showcases Industry-Ready Youth

Guwahati, Assam:
The Retail Sector competitions at the Indiaskills 2025–26 Northeast Regional Competition, conducted under the guidance of the Retailers Association’s Skill Council of India (RASCI), emerged as a key highlight at Gauhati University. As observed by the Learning Wire team on the ground, the retail skill contests demonstrated strong alignment with industry standards and job-ready competencies.

Participants from all eight Northeastern states—Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura—showcased practical expertise in customer service, visual merchandising, point-of-sale operations, inventory management, workplace communication, and store operations. The competition environment closely mirrored real-world retail settings, enabling an authentic assessment of candidates’ professional readiness.

RASCI officials and industry experts emphasized that the objective of the Retail Sector competition is not only to evaluate technical skills but also to prepare youth for careers in organized retail, e-commerce, and modern trade ecosystems. All assessment tasks were designed in accordance with RASCI’s National Occupational Standards (NOS), ensuring consistency with current industry expectations.

According to Learning Wire’s ground assessment, the confidence, discipline, and adaptability displayed by retail competitors reflect the Northeast region’s growing strength as a talent hub for the retail and service sectors. The competition also serves as a crucial pathway for top performers to advance to National Indiaskills and global platforms such as WorldSkills.

The active participation of the Retail Sector under RASCI at Indiaskills 2025–26 reinforces the mission of building a skilled, employable, and future-ready workforce to support India’s rapidly expanding retail economy.
